Preface From Vice Chancellor

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

First, let us give thanks and praise to Allah SWT, who always bestows health and blessings upon us.

Sebelas Maret University is advancing and developing in line with the basic policies that reflect our commitment to realizing the UNS Worldwide "Five Pillars of Transformation" for turning UNS into a world-class university. These five pillars of UNS acceleration towards becoming a World Class University (WCU) include:

  • Acceleration of professionalism and the well-being of human resources;
  • Acceleration of research, publications, and innovation;
  • Acceleration of reorientation of 4.0-based learning;
  • Development of institutions, strengthening data literacy, and technology (ICT);
  • Optimization of law, bureaucracy, and cooperation;

Then, it is implemented as the goal of synchronizing vision and mission to develop a 4.0 education system, create innovative world-class research, develop international standard human resources, develop healthy institutional governance, and develop domestic and international cooperation.

Research and innovation are the key terms used as the basis for realization, which also represent a harmonization of institutional synergy that includes the Institute of Research and Community Service (LPPM), the Directorate of Innovation and Commercialization, and the Research and Community Service Bureau. This acceleration and synergy creates a new nuance in the development of research and innovation while also realizing a spirit of togetherness in committing to becoming a UNS World Class University.

In promoting higher education synergy for research and innovation, the program covers a large scale in order to improve national competitiveness. The main national development, as outlined in the Nawa Cita, gives special emphasis to strengthening competitiveness. Furthermore, in order to translate the mission into a unification of research and technology activities, and then combined with higher education to produce research that is the beginning of innovation. The ultimate goal is "how the program can awaken the emergence of national technology in the form of innovation in order to improve national competitiveness, in line with what is stated in the Nawa Cita 6, increasing productivity and competitiveness is the vision of Indonesia's future development."

In line with the collective commitment to realize UNS Worldwide "Five Pillars of Transformation of PTNBH UNS into a World-Class University," researcher lecturers, students, and UNS community are increasingly encouraged to produce useful research and innovation results for the community. Through various programs and activities that support its implementation, the atmosphere of research and innovation development is in line with the main line of development to increase national competitiveness.

In a more conducive learning and teaching environment, it is expected that a learning atmosphere at UNS that is both local and international will be achieved. Through various disciplines of knowledge available at UNS, prospective students who will become UNS students have firmly established personal development goals in line with the diverse program options available. Of course, this will provide opportunities for researchers, students, and the UNS community to increase their knowledge, research experiences, community service experiences, innovation experiences, and interdisciplinary approaches at UNS which we all love.

Students can collaborate with researchers, the industrial world, and other institutions that are interested in cooperating in research and innovation with UNS. With the diverse expertise at UNS including undergraduate, vocational schools, and graduate schools and various study centers for the development of education, research, and community service, acceleration will be done for extensive cooperation with other research and innovation institutions from: ministries, directorates, educational/government/non-government/industrial institutions, etc.

With the supporting facilities inside the green campus (UNS Green Campus), as well as the comfortable and conducive campus located in Surakarta City (The City of Bengawan / Solo ) is an education city that is rich in historical heritage and/or rich in cultural heritage. Of course, this is also one of the capital for students, researchers, and guest lectures in order to obtain knowledge and research experiences in cultural locations such as Surakarta Palace and its surroundings.

Wassalamu'alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
